The Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP) proudly celebrates the successful campaign of the Philippine Wrestling Team at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games held in Chonburi, Thailand. Competing against the region’s top wrestling nations, Team Philippines delivered an outstanding performance across Freestyle, Women’s Wrestling, and Greco-Roman events—highlighting the continued rise of Philippine wrestling on the Southeast Asian stage.
In Men’s Freestyle Wrestling, Filipino athletes showcased exceptional skill and determination, earning multiple podium finishes. Gabriel Thomas Dinette captured the gold medal, asserting dominance in his division and securing a major victory for the national team. Ronil Tubog and Hayden Ancheta each claimed silver medals, demonstrating consistency and high-level technical execution, while Andre Dargani added a bronze medal, further strengthening the Philippines’ medal tally in freestyle competition.
The Philippine contingent also achieved notable success in Women’s Wrestling, reflecting the rapid growth and increasing competitiveness of female wrestlers in the country. Aliah Rose Gavalez and Arian Carpio both earned silver medals after strong tournament runs, while Rea Cervantes secured a bronze medal, marking another significant achievement for the women’s program on the international stage.
In Greco-Roman Wrestling, Philippine wrestlers continued to show resilience and technical maturity against highly experienced opponents. Jason Baucas and Callum Roberts each claimed bronze medals, underscoring the steady development of Greco-Roman wrestling in the Philippines and the effectiveness of WAP’s long-term athlete development initiatives.
