Proud to share that we have successfully concluded a two-week High-Performance Training Camp with the Philippine National Wrestling Team and National Training Pool, led by Coach Taro Umebayashi, Head Coach of the Waseda University Wrestling Team.

Coach Taro brought with him a world-class system rooted in discipline, efficiency, and competitive excellence. Throughout the camp, he implemented a structured, elite-performance approach that significantly elevated our athletes’ technical execution, match tactics, pace control, and overall competition habits. Each session was designed with purpose—emphasizing quality over quantity, intentional drilling, and high-level live situations that mirror the demands of international competition.

What stood out most was the standard. From warm-ups to the final rounds of live wrestling, every detail mattered. Athletes were challenged not just physically, but mentally—developing sharper decision-making, better composure under pressure, and a deeper understanding of match flow at the highest level.

The camp also opened its doors to a select group of young, high-potential wrestlers. This initiative provided them with rare exposure to national team training intensity, allowing them to experience firsthand the discipline, focus, and work ethic required to compete at the next level. It was a crucial step in bridging grassroots development with elite performance pathways.

More than just a training camp, this was a cultural exchange of excellence. Coach Taro’s system reinforced the importance of daily standards, consistency, and professionalism—values that are essential in building athletes capable of succeeding on the Asian, World, and Olympic stage.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Coach Taro Umebayashi for generously sharing his time, knowledge, and championship-level standards with Philippine wrestling. His contribution goes beyond technique—it leaves a lasting impact on how we train, prepare, and compete.

This camp marks another step forward in strengthening WAP’s high-performance pathway. With continued collaboration and commitment to excellence, we are building a new generation of Filipino wrestlers—athletes who are not only skilled, but fully prepared to compete with confidence on the international stage.
