The Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP) recently conducted an exciting stand-up wrestling session with the De La Salle University community in partnership with Deftac DLSU and DLSU BJJ GO. The collaborative training, led by Coach Choi, focused on enhancing stand-up grappling skills, takedown entries, balance, and positional control—key elements that greatly benefit Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners and combat athletes alike.
The session brought together a passionate group of athletes eager to deepen their understanding of wrestling and its application in modern grappling. Participants experienced high-level instruction and live training scenarios that emphasized the importance of strong fundamentals in stand-up exchanges. Wrestling continues to play a vital role in competitive grappling, MMA, and self-defense, making sessions like these invaluable for athlete development.
WAP extends its sincere gratitude to Deftac DLSU and DLSU BJJ GO for hosting and inviting the team to share knowledge with the DLSU community. The energy, openness to learning, and camaraderie on the mats made the session a memorable and productive experience for everyone involved.
This collaboration marks only the beginning of more wrestling initiatives within the university grappling scene. As the partnership grows, WAP looks forward to conducting more training sessions, workshops, and exchanges that aim to elevate the level of wrestling and grappling across schools and organizations.
Together, we continue to build stronger athletes, stronger teams, and a stronger Philippine grappling community. 🤼♂️💚
